The character of God dictates the 'Ethos and Standards' of our fellowship:
As He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct (1 Peter 1:13)
The holiness of God speaks of His purity and distinctness. It is His defining characteristic. It is our desire therefore to reflect this purity and distinctness in our lives and worship. The reality of the holiness of God is the controlling influence in all our meetings and in particular, our worship service on the Lord's Day. The honour and glory of our Creator is central in all that we do.
Let all things be done decently and in order (1 Cor 14:40)
When the Queen of Sheba visited Solomon, she noted the manner in which his household conducted themselves (1 Kings 10:1-5). The testimony of Solomon's servants complemented his message concerning God and she consequently perceived its veracity. It is our desire to emulate their behavior.
We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (1 John 4:16)
In love, Jesus gave His life on a cruel cross that we might have full forgiveness. A biblical love is a giving, sacrificing love (John 3:16). We strive to love one another in this spirit. However, it needs to be added that love does not accept everything or, turn a blind eye to sin. Paul rebuked Peter for compromising the truth of the gospel message (Galatians 2:11-14). Love does correct and even rebuke (1 Tim 3:16).
